PERSONALITY: Nico Robin is the most reserved member of the Straw hat crew, and really on most of the characters we have seen in One Piece. She doesn’t show much emotion, but that doesn’t mean she is always stoic. Really, she rarely shows any negative emotion, other than a sweat drop or in a very rare case. Even while everyone else is freaking out, shouting and screaming in fear, the most you will get from her is a look of shock. Most of the time though, she would look amused and calm during a dangerous situation, even saying things like amusingly commenting on the fact that the big mouth of a giant sea monster could swallow them instead of worrying about the situation involving said sea monster.

The reason why she is so calm is because of the extreme tragedy that effected her as a child. Watching her whole island being blown up, her mother and friends killed, and forced to run and flee for most of her life because everyone that she was a devil caused her to not show many emotions. The only time she has shown such extreme negative emotions is when she is confronted about her fears from the past, not feeling that she doesn’t deserve to be loved and cared for by such a loving crew. When she accepts that and shouts to Luffy that she wants to live, she let out all of her sadness that has been bottled up.

She doesn’t talk unless spoken to or something noteworthy happens, or if she finds something amusing. She also is talkative about history, but doesn’t talk about it much since most of the crew wouldn’t really understand what she is talking about. Only Nami, Franky, and Chopper can have longer conversations with her.

During combat she is stoic as well, unless the situation appears hopeless. She is also quite ruthless in battle, breaking peoples necks and backs without a sign of remorse. This is due to her hard past where she did anything to survive. She looks relaxed and calm as she goes about defeating her enemies. However, she doesn’t rush into things, and is very strategic on her moves. She never does anything more or less then she needs too to finish the job. She is one of the most efficient fighters on the crew.

One thing that really gets on her nerves are people who think history is meaningless. She has no idea why anyone would feel this way, and shows resentment to anyone who does, or tries to erase or destroy anything historical. She also has a great dislike for people or organizations that wipe or change history for their own benefit.

Robin doesn’t get close to many people. The few she does get close to she calls them by their regular names. When she isn’t, she calls them by their position(Navigator-san), or a body/outfit feature(Long nose-kun.) This doesn’t mean she doesn’t like the person however. If she doesn’t like them, she calls them by their last name only.

Robin has a cute sense of imagination. When she was thinking of what the Paw Paw fruit was, she imagined 2 kittens mewing. She also even makes dangerous or morbid fantasies sound cute, like thinking an undead zombie Cerberus was cute. This is perhaps due to her harsh childhood. She also has a somewhat macabre side to her, and often points gross or morbid facts. Some examples include: everyone was thinking Zoro got eaten by a skyshark, she said the clouds would be red if he did; When Chopper was taken by the Foxy Pirates after losing a game of Davey Back Fight, Robin hoped that, “They weren’t a collect of fine pelts”; When Robin heard the news that Nami, Franky, Sanji and Chopper were kidnapped by some mysterious men with rifles, she seemed concerned that they are already shot and got multiple holes in their body already; While the other crew members commented on Sanji's bizarre luck in reaction to Duval's face, Robin quipped that he would certainly have an interesting death one day.

POWERS/ABILITIES: Nico Robin has a very strange power: She can "bloom" replicates of her own body parts on to any object or creature within a 200 foot radius of herself. It can be any body part, fingers, arms, feet, she can even make 2 clones of herself, complete with clothes. She can also make over a 1000 parts of her body at one, and they can mold into giant forms of themselves. She can even mold many arms to make a crude set of wings for herself, to slow a fall, or glide for a short time.

The main way she uses this battle in combat is to bloom arms on the foes body to perform holds and breaks. She claims that power and speed mean nothing against her, since if she can bloom a few arms in time, she can break the foes bones with ease, or at least render them unable to fight.

These replicate body parts have the same strength as Robin does. So 1 Arm could only lift the same amount as her regular arm does. However, but adding many arms, she is able to lift things much heavier then she would normally be able to.

The main side effect of this mutation is if they get hurt, Robin will feel the pain. She will not bleed or show bruises on her normal body, but she will feel it. However, this goes for all her senses. So if she blooms an eye, she can see what that eye sees, or hear what an ear hears.

AU HISTORY: Robin was born in Tokyo to a Spanish man and a Japanese woman. While they only lived in Japan till she was 3, she took many of Japanese mannerisms, such as adding san or chan to names, and keeping her name in Japanese form. Her father was a history professor and her mother a archeologist. When Robin was 3 she and her parents moved to Egypt so they could study the pyramids.

Robin awakened her powers when she was 5 years old. Her parents weren’t that surprised by it. In fact, the mother knew a little about mutants after meeting some at a dig site in Japan. However, they knew they had to keep it a secret, so the told Robin never to use those powers around people unless her parents allowed it. Robin agreed, and she spend the next 3 years working with her parents on dig sites. She was young, but very smart, and her powers did help a lot so they didn’t need to hire many workers. Soon she was able to read the Hieroglyphs, as well as many other ancient languages. Robin’s dream was to be a teacher like her parents, and studied hard all the time to try and achieve this.

When Robin was 8 while they were investigating some tombs south of the Nile, her parents discovered a hidden passageway. At the end they found a room in runes never documented before. It was the find of the century. For days they worked and studied, documenting the runes, trying to translate them. Soon, they had a basic idea of what it was saying. It told of a lost civilization, equal or greater then Atlantis, that spanned the entire world.

One night, Nico Robin was awakened by her mother. She could feel hot, and soon discovered the house was on fire. They excaped through the back door, but soon people in cloaks were chasing them. Her mother put Robin in a nearby barrel, and lead the men off. Soon she heard her mother’s scream, and then nothing.

From listen to the people as she hid in that barrel, she discovered they were an secret society, bent on keeping the knowledge of this lost civilization a secret. Robin was able to stay hidden, and slipped into the shadows. Using her powers to get food, drink, and anything else she needed, she lived in the streets of various Egyptian cities. It was a very rough time for her, and it would affect how she would act for the rest of her life.

Three years later she was found by Professor Xavier while he was traveling in Cairo. He brought her to the institute, where she lived there till she turned 18. During that time she learned to better control her powers, and spent most of her free time learning many languages, living and dead. She then went to Harvard, and got her masters in Archeology and History. She started to travel the world, increasing her knowledge of ancient civilizations, but tended to keep to the shadows of the news. All this time, she kept looking for any more hidden ruins like her parents found, to learn more of this lost civilization. She found traces here and there, and also had some close encounters with the secret society.

One day she received a letter from Professor Xavier, asking if she wanted to come back to the school to teach history class. After giving it some thought, she decided to accept. She had recently discovered that some sort of mutant may have been involved in this ancient civilization, and thought it would be best to try and learn more researching at the school. Being able to do her childhood dream was also a plus.
